‘Little Shop of Horrors’

I got to cover The Far Off Broadway Players’ production of ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ last month! Though I’m in the trenches of advertising for Christmas, I wanted to take a moment to share some of my favorites from this spooky, Halloween-time show before Thanksgiving.

This was one of my favorite shows to photograph so far— I loved the colorful lighting and set, and I thought the cast and crew did a fantastic job!

The best way to capture the best work for you is to know you, and the best way to know you is to work with you! Each of my wedding packages includes a 30 Minute Engagement Session Package for this very reason. It gives us the chance to hang out, see what you’re comfortable with, and practice poses you might like to do the day of the wedding.

Wedding Day Coordination

It’s my job as your photographer to capture all of the important moments during your wedding, and to do that I need to know when they’re happening. Whether you already have a wedding planner and vendors lined up or you’re lining it all up yourself, about a month before your wedding I’ll call or meet with you to go over what the day will look like and create a photo itinerary based on your vision and any special ceremonies or circumstances we need to prioritize. I am more than happy to assist if you need helping figuring it all out.

4-6 Week Turnaround Time

There are lots of special moments during your day, and I try to capture all of it, which means there are also lots of photos for me to go through when the party’s over! I know you are excited to see them so I do my best to get through them as quickly as I can while balancing my other sessions and personal life. Depending on my workload at the time it usually takes me a month or so, and I touch base to keep you updated if it might take me a little longer in order to ensure I’m giving you my best work!

Corey & Candace • Engagement Session

While I work my way through their wonderful fall wedding gallery, I wanted to finally share some of Corey & Candace’s engagement photos around Courthouse Square here in Glasgow!

These two are the sweetest couple, and this session makes me smile so big! They are fellow Potterheads & concert-goers and so chill, this session was a breeze. ✨

Golden hour & sun flares will always be some of my faves! They love each other so much, and it shows. 🥹

I love including engagement photos in my wedding packages like this because it gives me time before their wedding day to get to know a couple better and find out what to focus on during their big day.

24.10.29 - Housekeeping & Updates!

Hey there!

I’m making this post to share some exciting new turn of events lately and keep you posted on where I am with editing! I know no one likes to read a ton of text so I’ll keep it short & sweet:

1. I now have a work phone number that you can use to contact me! This will be the number I’d prefer to keep photography & travel-planning-related communications to: (270) 261-3839.

I have also adjusted my work hours to Tuesday - Friday 10AM - 5PM so I can better balance work and taking care of my family. If you contact me outside those hours don’t think I am ignoring you— my New Year’s resolution this year has been to work on better self-discipline and part of that is setting boundaries and sticking to them, so this is me practicing it.

2. Speaking of travel planning, in case I haven’t shared with you yet I am now a travel agent with The Charming Travel Company! You can find out more & contact me for travel planning help at my number above or here: Meggie with TCTCo.

Did you know I offer a Headshot Mini Session Package? Well I do, right here on the Square in Glasgow, KY most weekdays.

I put this photo package together for all my friends wanting to have a solid, regular headshot for career updates, acting auditions, or just to have some fun & feel more confident!

This time last year, Leah and I were in a little production called ‘FRANKENSTEIN by Nick Dear’ together with the Far Off Broadway Players, our local community theatre group. She played Elizabeth, Victor Frankenstein’s fiancé, and I played the Female Creature (or “bride of Frankenstein” if you will 😆). It was a blast, and Leah is the sweetest friend and guide during my first ever production and time on the stage.

Needless to say, I’m here for you should you should you need new headshots or want a boost of self-confidence! ✨

I absolutely love the greenhouse at Chestnut Grove Market this time of year. Photographing sessions here feels like a breeze (even when it’s hot out). The lighting is beautiful and it is so full and vibrant. Everywhere you look there’s something that adds a pop to every composition and photo!

We’ve got the beautiful main aisle for all the main poses….

And then there is an endless number of spots and things we can do to make your session unique— it seems impossible to walk in here and not feel like a main character while strolling through and exploring all the intriguing plants in the nooks and corners!

Speaking of characters, this is one of my acting friends, Mollie, who was gracious enough to model for a solo session for me. Isn’t she gorgeous?!

I met Mollie at an audition workshop with the Far Off Broadway Players, our local community theatre group (more on them later). She’s a Swiftie, I’m a Swifitie. She loves musicals, I love musicals. One of us has tea, the other patiently waits for it to spill….After the workshop we were both casted in a show together and we’ve been close ever since!

I’ll be back at the greenhouse for Mini Sessions on Saturday July 13th if you too want to channel your main character energy!

Your Story is Worth Telling.

📸 ✍️ ✨ • A little branding update— I’m slowly but surely making my way back up to speed here! While on maternity leave I redesigned my branding kit to better reflect me + my purpose as a photographer.

“A picture is worth a thousand words,” and when it’s all said and done, the photos and artifacts we leave behind are what will give our future generations a glimpse of who we are and the commonalities that tie us together.

In that case, it’s worth taking the time to document yourself and the milestones that have meaning. It’s important to take time to appreciate yourself, your family and friends, your accomplishments, your any and every experience that make your life the invaluable story it is. And that story, your story, is worth telling.

Your story is worth telling.

Each of us is a thread in this infinite tapestry of existence, and each is important. Some are course fibers, some are fine silk, some weave together like birds of a feather while others fill in wherever the next opening takes it. Some are neutral, some are vibrant, some are shiny, but without any one of them would be a gaping hole.

I truly believe it is so important to document your life and see the beauty in it, and not just to share it on Facebook or Instagram but to print these photos for posterity’s sake, to have tangible pieces that our grandchildren and great-grand children can hold and say “you have great-grandma Edwina’s eyes,” or “Look, here’s the photo of my grandparents on this porch a hundred years ago,” (I might have heard those myself).

All of this to say, there’s no time like the present to document your life and who you are. One day, you might be the story that inspires someone to find a new lease on life or value in their insecurities or find the courage to venture outside their comfort zone to explore and learn and spread the gospel of love and light to someone else.

I’ll leave you with this for now: No, most things may not be exactly like a big blockbuster cinematic experience, but that’s why I photograph the way I do— so that when you click the gallery link from your session or open up your freshly printed album, you feel just as inspiring and captivating as if you walked out of one.

Where the Wildflowers Grow // A Southern Marketplace

The 2024 Spring Barn Sale event at Acres of Grace Farms in Red Boiling Springs, TN is just a month away!

You might be wondering why I’m sharing about a barn sale across the state line in Tennessee, and that would be because this sale and I go wayyy back. All the way back, in fact— I grew up just down the road from Acres of Grace Farms and know the Smith and Patterson families as next-door neighbors, so of course I’ll always be happy to show up with my camera in hand!

April Smith Patterson, who runs A Southern Marketplace with Molly Cooper and maintains the property on which the sale takes place with her husband Nick and family, has a passion for educating others about the agricultural industry and opportunities available in Clay County, TN and the Upper Cumberland area.

What better way to bring attention to this mission than to create a platform for local farmers, craftsmen, artists, and small businesses to showcase & share what they can bring to the table?

Hence, A Southern Marketplace Barn Sale began in 2017 using the two Smith family generational barns on property (the signature big white barn and the old red barn facing the pond) and has since expanded over the past seven years to be a triannual event held every Spring, Fall, and Winter. It now includes another open-air shelter, a big white tent (or sometimes 2), a ring of mobile boutiques around the pond, a fully furnished silo-turned-Airbnb rental, a ring of mobile food vendors at the sale entrance, and most recently a full agro-tourism experience including children’s activities and educational demonstrations beyond the main sale area.

To me, A Southern Marketplace has been a huge success over the past few years, bringing in thousands of visitors to each sale— for those not familiar with the RBS/Clay County area, that is huge!

This year’s Spring event is themed “Where the Wildflowers Grow” and will be taking place next month on May 3rd & 4th. It will be hosting 80+ vendors from across the Upper Cumberland and Barrens of Southern Kentucky— a wide range of local farmers, artists, craftsmen, and small businesses, all excited to welcome and show you what the hills of Appalachia have to offer beyond pickin’ and sippin’ in Music City or the tourist attractions in the Great Smoky Mountains. If you’re in the area, it’s worth a detour to stop and stroll through!

I’m so glad we’re getting closer to warmer weather — now it’s time for some Spring cleaning around here!

I’m definitely hitting my nesting phase with baby, so I’m finishing up some sessions and projects before I begin my maternity leave on Monday. 💐✨

I was soooo nervous about doing this session with Tracy & Sean because I wasn’t sure if the lights on the square would be enough without using the harsh light from my flash, but it turns out they were perfect!

I met this beautiful couple while working on a production with our local community theatre group, the Far Off Broadway Players, and they are seriously the coolest! They make theatre and dance a family affair, as they and their kiddos also work with SOMA Center for Dance here in Glasgow. You may recognize Tracy from FoBP’s production of James & the Giant Peach back in September or Sean from Nick Dear’s Frankenstein in October. Naturally, we had to get some photos in front of the marquee at The Plaza Theatre!

I truly might as well be dreaming— Tracy and Sean did the most as clients with their dancing and costumes from SOMA’s production of the Nutcracker back in December and made this gallery is so much more gorgeous than I expected.

They were so amazing to work with and they love each other so much and it shows!

Maternity Leave and Out of Office Dates

I’ve made it to my 3rd Trimester…you know what that means! I wanted to go ahead and share some dates I’ll be out of office, my next mini session days, and when I plan to take Maternity Leave:

January 21 - 27th (This Week) // Out of Office

Febuary 3rd // Valentine Minis @ Courthouse Square, Glasgow, KY

March 24th - May 25th // Maternity Leave - I will not be taking any sessions during this time. 

June 1  // Minis on the Square @ Courthouse Square, Glasgow, KY

I will be sharing my package and pricing updates and mini session line up for the second half of the year in the coming weeks so that you can be thinking ahead and we can go ahead and get you on the calendar before I go on leave!

I will not be scheduling any sessions or immediately responding to inquiries & emails during my maternity leave.

Please feel free to reach out to me before March 25th if you have a session or project in mind for this summer so we can prep accordingly for when I’m back in June!
